Found & Formed
Sandy Smith left a successful career as a corporate coach to pursue her passion for painting and creative endeavors. Her interest in art has grown steadily in encaustic painting as a collector. Sandy finds inspiration in nature, simplicity, Asian art, and ceramics. Her paintings reflect objects and scenes found near her seaside home on Cape Ann. Sandy uses line and color to recreate the light, mystery, and beauty of the world around her.
I’ve always loved the magic of transformation—the way an old house, a chipped surface, or a forgotten object can become something beautiful again with a little imagination and care. My encaustic work grows out of that same love of discovery, renovation, design, and the joy of uncovering what’s hidden beneath the surface.
Each piece I create is an invitation to look closer, notice the layers, and enjoy the beauty of change. My hope is that the work feels both refined and playful—something with a story, a little serendipity, and a lot of heart.
